In Alderney, we work hard to provide a supportive environment in which businesses can flourish, starting by making sure that establishing a company or subsidiary on the island is a smooth and efficient process.

Requirements for registration of an Alderney company

A Companies (Alderney) Law was introduced in 1994 and revisions are regularly made to ensure it remains appropriate for the current business world. 

A company is the only type of legal person which can be formed in Alderney.  More information on incorporating a company in Alderney can be found here Alderney Registry Information

Same-day registration of a company can be undertaken by the Alderney Registry. An application for registration may only be made by a Corporate Service Provider (a 'CSP') who is based in Alderney or Guernsey.

Alderney companies need to have:

• a registered office address in Alderney, (if you are not yet resident in Alderney or you don’t wish to use your residential address, CSPs may use their registered office address as part of their service).
  
  
• At least one director, who need not be Alderney resident
  
  
• A company secretary, and
  
  
• A resident agent who is either an Alderney resident director of the company or a CSP

Companies also require a memorandum of association and articles of association. There is a standard template for articles of association which can be used if you wish or a CSP will be able to assist with this.

Prior to incorporating a company, a company name may be reserved for one month on your behalf by a CSP to prevent anyone else from using it.

It is not possible to migrate an existing company to Alderney.
